FOTOS
Press Release: On Saturday, May 2, 2009, a group of residents of the Greater Hillsboro Area
gathered on the steps of J. B. Thomas Middle School holding signs that proclaim This Place Matters.
This Place Matters is a campaign by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Its purpose is
to help people across the U.S. call attention to special places in their community before they are lost. The
Thomas school complex, scheduled for demolition in July, will be added to a Trust map showing great American
places to honor and protect. The photo, taken by Faun Hosey, will appear in a slideshow on the Trust's Web site at
http://www.preservationnation.org/take-action/this-place-matters/.
The photo session was organized by Friends of the Old School (FOTOS), a non-profit organization dedicated to
saving Hillsboro's classic old school building and to utilizing it for the benefit of the Greater Hillsboro Area
community. FOTOS will be hosting an information table at the Hillsboro Farmers' Market this Saturday, May 9.
